I’d like to introduce everyone to something I call the Codex.

The Codex is a way for me to not only demonstrate the strengths of the STAT platform, but it’s also an opportunity to give something back to the search marketing community at large. The Codex is a live implementation of the STAT platform which currently tracks around 50 sites arranged into project categories. At the moment, the Codex tracks approximately 150 keywords for each of the 50 sites.

The Codex is still quite new (just over a week old) but as we refine the keywords and sites being tracked, I think you’ll all come to enjoy being able to use the Codex as free resource for industry specific benchmarks and search data. For each site, you can view top-level statistics such as average keyword ranking, top ranking keywords, indexed pages, backlinks and more. Using the Codex, you can also drill down into website competitors and Search Engine specific metrics, like most commonly ranking TLDs, etc.

You can access the Codex here: http://codex.getst.at

I hope you all enjoy using the Codex and the STAT platform!

Thanks for reading,

Wow, the very first post on the STAT Blog! You have no idea how excited I am about this.

First off, a little bit about me: my name is Rob and I’m a veteran web developer and search marketer. I am also the creator of STAT – Search Tracking & Analytics Tools.

STAT, in its original form, was built when I became exhausted from manually performing wide-ranging keyword research. When I started, I was equipped with software to handle small-scale keyword research on a per-site basis, but eventually my research grew to thousands of keywords, and my requirements extended to comparing rankings between competitor websites, and I found the work load to be excruciating.

The few applications that were available to me wouldn’t work for a number of reasons. They:

limited me to a small number of keywords (1,000 is hardly a single campaign!)

didn’t allow me to compare keywords in tandem with my competition

only updated on a weekly basis (that didn’t help when I was shifting my PPC spend based on organic rankings)

were all bulky and full of features I would never use

And that’s when STAT was born.

STAT has been built from the ground up to be an efficient and easy-to-use platform for search marketing professionals. It is a web application that looks and behaves like any of your run-of-the-mill desktop applications. Because of the intuitive, drag-and-drop nature of the platform, using STAT is easy and you can hit the ground running.

After a year of being available only to larger search agencies, I’m proud to announce that STAT is now open to the general public on an invite-only basis.

If you wish to sign up, please visit http://getst.at/signup and check this blog regularly for new posts and updated information!

Thanks for reading,
